Creating Stories to Foster Change

Understanding what makes a good story, and how to structure and leverage it to bring about change are concepts I teach corporate leaders and young professionals that I mentor. But, last weekend, I had the honor of helping facilitate a workshop sponsored by SparkShare to enable 17 of Boston’s youth organizations create compelling stories about the work they are doing to bring about positive change. With topics ranging from racial injustice to mental wellness, and food insecurity to substance use, these young men and women are taking on some of society’s most challenging problems. Developing their storytelling capabilities will not only give them an invaluable career skill, it provides a powerful tool to help them bring about the change they want to see in the world.
